As report card day approaches, I’ve noticed our children consuming more sugary drinks and fizzy beverages. Scientific studies link sugar consumption in children to high levels of anxiety and biological dependency.
Some children feel natural, valuable, and responsible for the outcome, regardless of the grades they bring home on report card day.
Some children experience feelings of worthlessness, anxiety, and shame. Children experiencing negative emotions see their report card grades as a life grade, a measure of their personality and character. Therefore, children under intense stress seek happiness in sweets.
Because sugar, or substances that turn into sugar, undergo a chemical reaction and transform into alcohol when they enter our children’s bodies. When the effects of the sugar wear off, our children can develop negative feelings towards life. The day these feelings are experienced most intensely is report card day, when biological and psychological factors are triggered.
Children can feel worthless and uninterested in life on report card day. We need to discover which values are respected in the environment in which the child grows up, and which values the children have internalized.
But I believe that only in this way can we discuss the meanings of events; that we can raise generations who are far more valuable than report card grades, who are empathetic and behave ethically.
I want to share the experiences and communication with their children of mothers who have taken the time and effort to share their thoughts on this topic in the comments section below. I believe these observations will greatly enrich our knowledge.
