HOW DO PANIC ATTACKS AND ANXIETY HARM US?

Panic attacks and anxiety are at least three times more common in women than in men. They show a significant increase, especially in girls, up to the age of 5, and this increase intensifies during adolescence. Particularly when we experience intense stress, less oxygen is transported to our brain and certain parts of our body, leading to the following symptoms:

Numbness
Shortness of breath
Nausea
Breathlessness
Blurred vision
Feeling detached from the environment
Severe chest pain
Cold hands and feet
Increased heart rate
Feeling of losing control
Hot flashes, sweating
Muscle cramps in arms and legs
Numbness in arms and legs
Dizziness, lightheadedness, confusion
Tingling in arms and legs

Only those who have experienced these effects can understand. And unfortunately, many people give dangerous advice to those suffering from panic attacks and anxiety, such as, “Forget about it, don’t worry about it, confront it.”

However, our bodies try to warn us by giving these kinds of signals when something is wrong. Sometimes we think that things that are unlikely to happen will definitely happen to us, and we may not know how to cope with it. This is because the burdens, responsibilities, and obligations of life that we have carried since childhood do not allow us to fight back.

The healthiest way to cope with panic attacks and anxiety is to discover the source of our emotions and behaviors, where they come from. After this discovery, we should not avoid them but try to confront them. Because confrontation helps us find the source of our emotions. By knowing where our emotions come from, we can find the answers to our anxieties.
