There are certain periods between family and students that are marked by mild or severe conflicts. Generally, everyone holds the student responsible. Society judges the young individual. The biggest mistake already starts here.
The individual developing during adolescence strives to find their own roadmap, their self, and to define it. During this period, self-awareness begins to form in a very broad area, ranging from sexuality to professional life.
In an effort to form their unique identity, the young individual, while deeply loving and identifying with their family (mother, father, uncle, aunt, etc.), also enters into conflict with them. They criticize the family. They dislike their behaviors, attitudes, and many other aspects related to the family.
This DILEMMA forms the foundation of adolescence. It is often inevitable. This foundation is:
1) Internal,
2) Structured by the individual,
3) Dynamic,
4) Encompasses the individual’s ‘abilities’, ‘beliefs’, and experiences in all areas.
Although the young individual is declared the sole hero of this conflict in the eyes of family and society, the family also enters into conflict with the student while identifying with them. They criticize the student. They dislike their behaviors, attitudes, and many things related to the student.
This DILEMMA, in turn, forms the foundation of a period of anxiety within the family. It is often inevitable. From a psychological perspective, there can be dozens of reasons for this foundation. The ranking of these reasons is a separate topic. Highly variable interpretations and perspectives related to these interpretations can constitute the reasons, depending on individuals and societal culture.
However, one thing is true…
There is nothing a mother and father wouldn’t do for their child. Sometimes, even if we witness traumatic events, a mother and father can disregard their own lives for their child’s life without batting an eyelid. Regardless of the circumstances, family is very important and valuable to a child.
YGS is approaching. The magnificent potential for success that every student carries in their mind goes far beyond YGS and similar exams. We can reward dilemmas and conflicts with the value of ‘individuality’. The dilemma in family and students gains meaning and value when individuals first sufficiently accept themselves and then look at life objectively. Thus, equipped with self-awareness, we achieve our true life purpose and success.
Let’s not forget. There are no grand and complex formulas for living a healthy, happy, positive, and successful life. True scientists do not offer you such ready-made formulas.
What we need to do is quite simple and understandable. In lifelong development and in every aspect, in every stage of communication and relationships; in education, marriage, love, work, and social life, with everyone and every event in our inner world; we need to close open accounts.
