I’ve been conversing with and observing people of different age groups in my country. There’s little talk about discoveries, studies, and research in science, art, and culture that would develop our country in every aspect. From young to middle-aged, the topics of conversation mostly revolve around national issues or the painful memories of past lives.
It’s as if our people are trapped in a space between the future and the past within their own emotional world. I believe a significant amount of potential, both among young and adult individuals, is being wasted.
I’d like to ask for your advice by giving an example.
A few days ago, a middle-aged, well-off, married father of two who are university students wrote the following on a Post-it note. I’m sharing it with you exactly as it was written:
“People love you the most when you are most useful to them.”
Looking at this text, I see that human life and experience have ceased to be a valuable process. Instead of enriching one’s own life and experiences in a healthy way and passing them on to future generations, there is an attitude here that advises judging oneself and all people.
On the other hand, I am following young Turkish engineering students who are carrying out important scientific research in the field of nanotechnology abroad. I am witnessing significant discoveries that will closely affect human health in the next 10 years.
I realize that the conversations we have with young people as parents, teachers, and adults, and the influence we create for them, are crucial for the future of our country.
I believe that the degree of responsibility we bear determines everything we can do and have.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
