For early treatment of autism, we can achieve success by observing our children in the following way.
Our children at 12 months old:
If the child does not respond on their own behalf,
Does not turn their head towards the direction of the sound,
Cannot sit up without help,
Does not smile at their mother or those around them,
Does not try to imitate words with sounds,
Cannot stand up by holding onto furniture,
Does not fear or smile at new faces,
Does not react when held in the arms of strangers,
Does not follow objects with eye movements,
Does not carefully observe the facial expressions of other people,
We can suspect early signs of autism and need to act immediately. This is because doctors generally prefer not to diagnose children under the age of 3. Parents are usually told to “wait and see.”
However, the greatest opportunity for early diagnosis of autism is between 9 months and 5 years of age. The connection between the parents’ and the autistic child’s worldview is as significant and beneficial as any medical intervention.
Many mothers and fathers have dedicated time and effort to sharing their thoughts in the comments section of this article. I consider every comment very valuable and important. I would like you to read them as well. I believe that the observations made in these comments will greatly enrich us in terms of discovering our children’s futures and developing an awareness of how to observe those futures. I am sharing them with you below.
