BEING A PARENT

Hello, my dear friends of life in my heavenly Turkey, whose health is precious, whose hearts are kind, whose souls are beautiful, and who are full of awareness.

Last week, we all witnessed the conditions under which our children, the guarantors of our future, and the growing young generation are trying to study. The number of emails and social media messages from all corners of Turkey reached 500. The fact that our article resonated so widely is a significant indicator of awareness and consciousness in our country. Thankfully, our parents cannot ignore the realities. They say yes to awareness and education. A wise person is someone who can lock their ego in their closet, is open to learning, and is honest with themselves. We address all our esteemed readers and valuable parents. We were very pleased that you did not pass the buck. I was already eager to write about family health and child psychology. God sees those He loves. Your sincere and warm emails were like medicine. Of course, not all five fingers are the same. If we hadn’t received a flood of messages from you, the ‘sleeping partner’ would have been proven right. This is what it means to be an effective parent. Just wish for awareness. Come on then. Lean back. Let’s start from the very beginning.

An excited wait in the corridor. You are in the operating room next to your spouse. Your child has been born. You held them in your arms. They looked at you and smiled. (Most cry, wondering what they’re doing here.) What did you feel at that moment? If I asked you to describe your most intense emotion from that day today, what would you say? Don’t say, “Are you crazy, man, what would I say?” We are conducting a scientific experiment here. A baby joining a family changes that family’s priorities from A to Z. The love of the spouses unites in one tiny heart and intensifies there. From this point on, you start to fight life differently. Most likely, it’s still continuing that way. I don’t know if you’ve ever noticed. Unhappy work life, future anxieties, prejudices, love ending in marriage, lost respect, and general stress are increasing the number of unhappy family members day by day. I’m not even writing about the search for different excitements by people who have no financial worries. We can’t seem to adapt to where we belong. Equals; aneurysm in relationships. Communication with family members swells.

Now you’ll say; what does raising children have to do with all this, my friend? Right. These are adult issues. So let me explain it this way. Whatever good or bad you may have experienced, a child’s intense perception capacity models parental psychology by incorporating the past and present. This is a scientific fact as much as 2+2=4. Your social roles are passed down from generation to generation, even if you are not aware of it. The most important thing for family happiness is for parents to have a harmonious relationship with each other under one roof. When spouses have a harmonious relationship, the mental health and self-confidence of the children in the family are also strong. For their development, they become individuals who have received full parental attention. Raising children is an art. We are not just raising children, but also the parents of our grandchildren. Let’s not forget this.

WEEKLY AWARENESS NOTE

I had visited my friends who recently had children. Knowing they live unhealthily, I thought the best gift would be a book. You can guess the topic. Healthy eating models in babies, and a bit of psychopharmacology. Nothing else could be expected from me anyway. The house was packed. I barely got past the barricade and gave my gift. Of course, I was expecting a good reaction in return. The dialogue went exactly like this: – Uğur, you know I have no time, can you read it to me and tell me about it? Okay, sure. No problem at all. I’m a bit blunt, my answer came in a second: ”

If it were a romance novel, you’d read it in one breath, wouldn’t you?”

How powerful a concept is parenthood? And how much do we take it for granted?
